Today’s BIC Center Name of the Day is Liam.  If that’s your name, come on down to the BIC Center today to pick out a free drink of your choice.

On our Birthday List: no names listed, if we missed you on the list, Happy Birthday to you from everyone at the BIC Center and WVBI.

TRAFFIC: No delays inbound or outbound to the airports. The Island Beltway is running smoothly. There are no bridge delays. But, it is busy in town when the ferries arrive and there are lots of folks out hiking and biking. So, let’s be careful out there.

On this date in 1944 Paris was liberated  by the French 2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th Infantry Division. Despite Hitler’s orders to destroy the city, German resistance was light, and General Dietrich von Choltitz surrendered.

Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day is the noun Tilde Tilde refers to the mark ~ placed especially over the letter n (as in the Spanish señor, meaning “sir”) to denote the sound \nʸ\, or over vowels (as in the Portuguese irmã, meaning “sister”) to indicate nasality. When a tilde appears as an independent character, it usually means “approximately” (as in “we’ll be there in ~ 30 minutes”).

// A familiar example of the tilde appears in the name of Brazil’s capital city, São Paulo.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Tuesday…

Here’s a thought for the day from the Charles DeGaulle who said, “From behind the cloud so heavy with our blood and our tears, the sun of our greatness is now reappearing.”

On a lighter note…
I didn’t know that Sylvester Stallone is on his third marriage. I guess his first one was rocky, and his second was rocky too.

That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar Report for this Beaver Island Tuesday, August 25th, 2026. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening.
