TRAFFIC: None. But the roads are super slick after the snow and glaze of icing yesterday. So, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone. |
On this day in 1881 Czar Alexander II, the ruler of Russia since 1855, is killed in the streets of St. Petersburg by a bomb thrown by a member of the revolutionary “People’s Will” group. The People’s Will, organized in 1879, employed terrorism and assassination in their attempt to overthrow Russia’s czarist autocracy. They murdered officials and made several attempts on the czar’s life before finally assassinating him on March 13, 1881. |
Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day – Quark – Quark is a word used in physics to refer to any one of several types of very small particles that make up matter. // Quarks, which combine together to form protons and neutrons, come in six types, or flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. |
Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Thursday… |
Here’s a thought for the day – “God will not look you over for medals, degrees or diplomas but for scars.” |
On a lighter note, A friend of mine was held back a year in the first grade because he only knew 25 of the 26 letters in the alphabet. Sort of harsh, I know, but even until this day he doesn’t know Y! |
That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar for this Beaver Island Thursday, March 13th, 2025. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking you: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening. |
