On this day in 1879, Albert Einstein is born, the son of a Jewish electrical engineer in Ulm, Germany. Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity drastically altered human understanding of the universe, and his work in particle and energy theory helped make possible quantum mechanics and, ultimately, the atomic bomb. |
Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day – Curfew – Curfew refers to a law or order that requires people to be indoors after a certain time at night, as well as to the period of time when such an order or law is in effect. Chiefly in the United States, curfew is also used to refer to the time set by a parent or caregiver at which a child has to be back home after going out. // No one is allowed on the streets during the curfew. |
Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Friday… |
Here’s a thought for the day – “What is imagination?…It is a God-like, a noble faculty. It renders earth tolerable, it teaches us to live, in the tone of the eternal.” – Ada Lovelace |
On a lighter note, being as it is Pi day, here’s one somewhat related, why should you never trust someone writing on graph paper? Because they must be plotting something |
That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar for this Beaver Island Friday, March 14th, 2025. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking you: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening. |
