WVBI COVID-19 Update for September 15, 2020

State health officials have reported a total of 1,008 new confirmed cases yesterday.  The number sounds high, but it represents two days of results as they’ve stopped issuing reports on Sunday. There were 10 new deaths. That brings the total of conformed cases to 112,612.  Of those 20,457 are active.  Death toll stands at 6,601. The seven-day running average for new cases is down to 749.  Average for deaths is up two to 10.  M-I Safe Start Map shows a state-wide positive test rate running average at 3.5%, which is at the bottom of the medium risk zone and the average new case per capita rate state-wide is at 47.6 per million, which is at the low end of the high risk zone.

 

Our region had 12 new cases in the last two reports.  Two new cases including two in Charlevoix. Overall total of cases in our region is now at 1,000 of which 374 are less than 30 days old. There have been 32 deaths overall.  Rolling averages are nine new cases a day and no deaths.  In the U-P there were 33 new cases and no new deaths. They now have 1,283 total cases with 488 active and 20 deaths. Averages are 19 new cases a day, no deaths.

Safe Start data for our zone show the positive test rate at 2.0%, which is in the low risk zone.  The number of new cases per million is 20.1, which is medium-high risk. The TVC zone continues to be the lowest risk zone in the state. There were 36 new cases in the reports for the T-C zone Friday and Saturday. No deaths. 1,477 cases since the start with 520 active, and 60 deaths. Averages are 13 new cases a day and no deaths.  

 

Today’s Health Center report has nothing new. Total tests so far are 173.  166 negative. One test is pending.  There have been six positive tests so far, but it appears none of those are current active cases on the island.
