COVID-19

WVBI COVID-19 Update for March 13, 2020 (Evening)

As we’ve been reporting all day, the Coronavirus-19 is changing the landscape quickly across our state and community.  Today, B-I-C-S announced that in-school classes are off until April 6th.  Part of that time was a previously planned spring break, but for the rest of the time teachers are working on plans for in home learning.  The one to one laptop policy for all but the youngest students at school should help with that.  Earlier this evening we had Beaver Island Rural Health Center director Tammy Radionoff, who is also a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner Cecilia Peasley as guests on Beaver Island Perspectives talking about what you can do to protect yourself and our community.  The key point they made is prevention.  Wash your hands.  Take care of your self.  Consider vitamin supplements and, if you start feeling ill, self quarantine until you know what is going on—call the Health Center and they will walk you through what to do.  Don’t just run in there.  Call first.  If you missed the program, it is available as a Podcast on our podcasts page.  Give it a listen to know what to do and help feel a little more in commend of things.  Click here to listen.
