COVID-19

WVBI COVID-19 Update for February 3, 2022

The Health Center is reporting two new tests with one back negative and one pending. There are now 12 cases two weeks or less old tested positive on the island.

Monday’s report from the state showed a dramatic drop in new cases and downward trends across the board.  While yesterday’s report shows an uptick from Monday, the overall trend continues to be down.  There were about 9,400 new cases a day over the two days covered by the report pushing the seven-day running average down again to 9,479. There were an average of 17 new deaths a day plus 293 reclassified deaths—those are deaths from prior dates added to the roll.  That puts the running average at 81, which includes reclassifications.  In our eight-county region, there were 224 new cases a day and 10 deaths overall. 34 of the new cases were in Charlevoix County. The deaths were in Grand Traverse with four, Emmet with three, Leelanau with two and Antrim with one.  There was a slight uptick in hospital utilization numbers, but will still high they continue to be on an overall downward slope.  No change at our local hospitals.
