Michigan reported another huge batch of new cases yesterday. There were 6,311 new cases, a jump by more than 1,000 over yesterday. It brings the total number of active cases statewide to 83,109. Ten new deaths were reported. In the eight counties we’ve been following, there were 93 new cases and one death. Seven of the new cases were in Charlevoix. The death was in Kalkaska. Statewide overall hospital occupancy stands at 77.6% for regular beds and 79.2% for ICU beds—both numbers at the upper range of where they have been hovering for months. COVID-19 occupancy is higher than it has been, but is steady compared to the last report with COVID-19 patients in 9.8% of regular beds and 14.4% of ICU beds. Munson in Charlevoix has trwo COVID-19 patients. There are 12 at McLaren in Petoskey. No change in the numbers on the island. No new tests. None pending.
