First some news…
The
Great Lakes region may experience a winter season characterized by warmer-than-average temperatures and reduced snowfall in certain areas.
The outlook for the 2026-27 winter season is not unanimous, as three distinct long-range forecasts provide varying perspectives on expected temperature, precipitation, and snowfall patterns.
The potential influence of El Niño is identified as a factor that could shape the upcoming winter conditions in the Great Lakes region. (Source USA Today Network by Brandi Anderson)
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) identified a bovine tuberculosis-positive cattle herd in Alcona County during routine surveillance testing within the state’s Modified Accredited Zone.
Officials have launched an epidemiological investigation and are utilizing whole genome sequencing to determine the source of the infection and identify potential additional cases.
MDARD continues to manage the disease through cattle surveillance, movement regulations, and wildlife biosecurity, noting that bovine TB can transmit between the region’s white-tailed deer population and cattle.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Wednesday…
|
|
Here’s a thought for the day from Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
|
|
And on a lighter note… Why did the headless horseman start a business?
He wanted to be his own boss—he was tired of people telling him to get his head in the game!
