(from upnorthlive.com by Tony Lundy) Michigan State Police are investigating a series of violent events on January 2, 2026, that linked a fatal officer-involved shooting in Cadillac to a homicide and home invasion in Wexford County. The incident began when a Cadillac Police Department officer stopped a suspected stolen vehicle, resulting in the fatal shooting of the 57-year-old male driver after he pointed a handgun at the officer. Concurrently, authorities discovered a deceased male at the site of a home invasion and robbery in Wexford County, eventually identifying the deceased driver as the primary suspect in both the homicide and the robbery. A female passenger, was taken into custody and has since been charged with lying to a peace officer during the violent crime investigation.
