Today’s BIC Center Name of the Day is Yorick. If that’s your name, come on it to the BIC Center to pick out a free drink of your choice.
On our Birthday List today: Alice Belfy and Sally Fogg Happy Birthday to Alice and Sally and if we missed you on the list Happy Birthday to you too from everyone at the BIC Center and WVBI.
TRAFFIC: No delays inbound or outbound to the airports. The Island Beltway is running smoothly and there are no bridge delays. But, hey, let’s be careful out there, especially in the school zone.
On this date in 1885, Mark Twain publishes his famous—and famously controversial—novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the U.S.
Twain (the pen name of Samuel Clemens) first introduced Huck Finn as the best friend of Tom Sawyer, hero of his tremendously successful novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). Though Twain saw Huck’s story as a kind of sequel to his earlier book, the new novel was far more serious, focusing on the institution of slavery and other aspects of life in the antebellum South.

Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day
Goldilocks describes something that has or produces an optimal balance usually between two extremes. In astronomy, it specifically designates an area of planetary orbit neither too hot nor too cold to support life.
// The couple, undecided between country and city living, took the Goldilocks option and moved to a bustling college town surrounded by nature.
Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Wednesday…
Here’s a thought for the day from Mark Twain and his book Huckleberry Finn. ““Human beings can be awful cruel to one another.””
On a lighter note… Here’s a question I pose occasionally, it’s for all the mind readers out there.
That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar Report for this Beaver Island Wednesday, February 18th, 2026. I’m Greg reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening.
