Community Calendar Report For Thursday, May 8, 2025

Community Calendar Report for Thursday, May 8th, 2025.

First some news…

State Rep. Parker Fairbairn’s plan to send $100 million in state disaster relief to Northern Michigan cleared the House Wednesday with near-unanimous support. The money would help communities recover from this year’s devastating ice storm, covering costs like cleanup, emergency shelters, and infrastructure repairs. Fairbairn called it a “once-in-a-generation weather event” that left widespread damage, from snapped power poles to a toppled 600-foot broadcast tower. The bill now moves to the Senate for approval.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Thursday

Here’s a thought for the day from Albert Einstein, “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

On a lighter note…

I once got tired of waiting for a Pink Moon so I put a slice of Bologna on the window and called it a night.

That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar Report for this Beaver Island Thursday, May 8th, 2025. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking you: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening.
