Community Calendar Report for Friday, May 9th, 2025.

First some news…

EV TAX CREDIT CUT THREATENS MICHIGAN’S CLEAN TRANSPORTATION FUTURE

Proponents of cleaner fuels and electric vehicles warn that eliminating the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs could severely hamper Michigan’s transition to cleaner transportation. Jane McCurry, executive director of Clean Fuels Michigan and member of the state’s Council on Future Mobility and Electrification, is among those raising concerns after congressional Republican leaders signaled the credit is likely on the chopping block. The credit, which became available at point of sale in 2024, has been making electric vehicles more accessible to consumers while supporting Michigan’s growing clean mobility sector. Two Senate bills now threaten not only to end the incentive but potentially add a $1,000 fee on electric vehicles, which critics argue would stall adoption rates just as the state has been investing hundreds of millions in clean transportation infrastructure and manufacturing.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Friday

Here’s a thought for the day from Lou Holtz, Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.

On a lighter note… I’ve been thinking about taking up meditation. I figure it’s better than sitting around doing nothing!

That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar Report for this Beaver Island Friday, May 9th, 2025. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking you: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening.
