A summary from a petoskeynews.com story by Janis Reeser and assisted by AI – A new opportunity for hands-on career training is arriving in Northwest Michigan through the region’s first U.S. Department of Labor Registered Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship. This three-year “earn-while-you-learn” program is a partnership between Northwest Michigan Works! and Manthei Construction, designed to build a local pipeline of skilled technicians. Participants will complete 6,000 hours of paid on-the-job mentoring alongside 432 hours of technical online coursework, eventually earning a nationally recognized journey-level credential. By providing specialized training within the 10-county region, the initiative allows local residents to pursue high-wage essential careers without having to relocate for schooling. NAME OF DAY: Today’s BIC Center Name of the Day is Brian.  If that’s your name, come into the BIC Center to pick out a free drink of your choice.
BIRTHDAYS: Brontae Perrone, Bryan Timsak and Pat Nugent are celebrating today. Happy Birthday to Brontae, Bryan and Pat and if we missed you on the list, Happy Birthday to you too from everyone at WVBI and your Beaver Island Community Center.
TRAFFIC: No delays inbound or outbound to the airports. The Island Beltway is running smoothly and there are no bridge delays. But, hey, let’s be careful out there, especially for sleigh traffic.
On this day in 1933, construction begins on the Golden Gate Bridge, as workers began excavating 3.25 million cubic feet of dirt for the structure’s huge anchorages.

Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day is  Marginalia is a plural noun that refers to notes or other marks written in the margins of a text, and also to nonessential matters or items.
// I loved flipping through my literature textbooks to find the marginalia left behind by former students.
Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Monday…
Here’s a thought for the day from Michelangelo – The greater damage for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it
On a lighter note…
Whenever I put my car in reverse I’ll say, this takes me back!
