WVBI Weekend Community Calendar for Friday, January 17th, 2020

From studios in the BIC Center on America’s Emerald Isle, this is the WVBI Weekend Community Calendar for Friday, January 17th, 2020.
Here’s what’s happening on your island…
Islander Basketball squads took off this morning to play Ojibwe up in the UP—that to avoid the weather headed our way. So, no games tomorrow. Next weekend the islanders are at home to face their arch rivals—the Mackinac Island Lakers.
Tomorrow, the Health Center has their regular quarterly board meeting planned for 9:30 in the Community Room at the Health Center. Saturday will be busy at the BIC Center. Pickleball 10 to noon. And movies, too. At 4, it’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Disney film great for the kids, but a little scary in a Wizard of Oz kind of way. Rated PG. Then at 7, some sophomoric fun for the grown-ups with The Turkey Bowl. Lots of laughs. It’s rated R. Concession stand will be open for snacks, a meal or both. Sunday, services at Holy Cross, the Lighthouse Fellowship and the Christian Church. Times and details are on the calendar. And, the C-O-A has a Sunday dinner planned at School from 11 to 12:30. Chicken Lasagna is on the menu with all the trimmings.
Next Monday, St. James Finance Committee meets at the Governmental Center at 1.
Tuesday, Pickleball at the BIC Center from 10 to noon. Arthritis Foundation Exercise program is from 10:30 to 11:30 up in the Hangout. And, the day ends with Ladies Shuffleboard at the Shamrock. That’s at 7.
Next Wednesday, gets underway with Everything to do with Needles at the Peaine Township Hall. 9:30 to noon every Wednesday through spring.
Next Thursday, Pickleball is on at the BIC Center from 10:00 to noon. Also, Games Galore up in the Ray and Ann Stanhope Hangout from 1 to 4. And, Thursdays are Euchre Nights at Stoney. Cards hit the table at 7.
