WVBI COVID-19 Update for September 11, 2020

State health officials reported a whopping 924 new confirmed cases in their data yesterday.  There were 18 new deaths, but one taken off the list attributed to Grand Traverse for a net of 17. There are now 109,519 confirmed cases since the crisis began.  Of those 20,763 are active.  Death toll stands at 6,569. The seven-day running average for new cases is up again to 732.  Average for deaths is up one to seven.  M-I Safe Start Map which is still based on data from last Saturday shows a state-wide positive test rate running average at 3.4%, which is just slipping into the low risk zone and the average new case per capita rate state-wide is at 43.8 per million, which is at the low end of the high risk zone. 

 

Our region had 13 new cases in yesterday’s report and as noted above, one death taken off the roll in Grand Traverse County.  New cases were in Emmet, Kalkaska and Leelanau with one each and Grand Traverse with 12.  Both Charlevoix and Otsego had one case removed. Overall total of cases in our region is 960 of which 372 are less than 30 days old. There have been 32 deaths overall.  Rolling averages are 10 new cases a day and no deaths.  In the U-P there were 22 new cases and no new deaths. They now have 1,199 total cases with 502 active and 19 deaths. Averages are 21 new cases a day, no deaths.

Safe Start data for our zone show the positive test rate at 2.2%, which is in the low risk zone.  The number of new cases per million is 21.7, which is medium-high risk. The TVC zone continues to be the lowest risk zone in the state. There were 13 new cases in the T-C zone yesterday and the one death in Grand Traverse taken off. 1,441 cases since the start with 502 active, and 60 deaths. Averages are 14 new cases a day and no deaths. 

 

No changes in today’s Health Center report. Total tests so far are 172.  Of those, 167 are back as negative, three pending and six positives—with five of those for folks who’ve left the island and the remaining one more than 30 days old.  So, still no known active cases on the island.
