WVBI COVID-19 Update for June 22, 2020

On the COVID-19 front, data released Saturday showed 255 new cases and 20 new deaths. That was the fourth day in a row that total new cases exceeded 200, that after a string of below 200 case days going back to June 12th. Sunday data showed 146 new cases and three new deaths, but Sunday reports have typically been below the trend.. Totals in Michigan now stand at 61,230 conformed cases and 5,846 COVID-19 related deaths. Weekly recovery data show 49,290 recovered leaving almost 12-thousand active cases in the state.
On the Island, no change in the data. 84 tests have been run. 83 of those are back as negative. None pending. Still only one back as positive.
In our region, looking at data from Saturday, total confirmed case count is up to 226. Death toll steady at 21. There are two additional cases in Grand Traverse bring them at 37, but one has been removed from Emmet putting them back to 21 where they had been for some time. No other change in county by county data, but they are in today’s script online if you are interested. [Otsego confirmed case count is at 102 with 10 deaths. Emmet is at 21 with two deaths. Grand Traverse is at 37 cases with five deaths. Charlevoix has 17 cases including one from the island, and two deaths. Kalkaska has 19 confirmed cases two deaths. Antrim 13 cases, still no deaths, Leelanau at 12, no deaths. And Benzie is at five cases and no deaths.] Up in the U-P, they are up three to 133 confirmed cases. Death toll is back to 16 after an apparent misclassification of a death last week.
