WVBI COVID-19 Update for January 12, 2022

The Health Center is reporting another five COVID-19 tests, and one negative result. They have nine tests with results pending. There are 32 cases on the island less than 30 days old.

Michigan state health officials are saying that the worst is likely yet to come in the current surge with predictions of up to 8,000 COVID-19 patients hospitalized by the end of the month or early February.  There are 5,000 patients now and that has many hospitals stretched to their limits. They also expect the number of new cases to double over that period.  As of the last report, there were about 300,000 cases less than 30 days old in the state.
