Health Center report this morning shows three additional tests run for a total of 168. 160 are back as negative, two pending and six positives—with five of those for folks who’ve left the island and the remaining one more than 30 days old. Also, a reminder about the Health Center vaccine update from last week. There has been a shortage of shingles vaccine, but the Health Center now has it in stock. The vaccine Shigrix is recommended by the C-D-C for healthy adults over 50 years old. That’s a change from the prior shingles vaccine called Zostavax, which was recommended for healthy adults over 60. More information from the C-D-C is here: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/index.html. Flu shots will be available soon. This year of all years you should plan to get one unless they are contraindicated for you. Call the Health Center at 2275 to learn about your situation and schedule an appointment.
