From studios in the BIC Center on America’s Emerald Isle, the WVBI Community Calendar for your weekend on Friday, May 10th, 2019.
Here’s what’s happening on your island this weekend…
Saturday, Lego Club at the library at 1. Self Defense class at 5 at the Peaine Township Hall. Here at the BIC Center, two movies: Showing at 4 it’s the Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Snarkiness will no doubt abound with lots of fun for kids and mom and dad. It’s rated PG. At 7, Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway star in Serenity. A fishing boat captain juggles facing his mysterious past and finding himself ensnared in a reality where nothing is what it seems. Kinda sounds like a Beaver Island story, no? But, it’s one for grown-ups because it is R. Concession stand will be open all day Saturday with treats both for the shows and you island adventures.
Sunday, services at Holy Cross, the Christian Church and the Lighthouse fellowship. Details are on the calendar.
Here’s a quick peak at next week… On Monday, Dental services start at the dental clinic in the Health Center. And, the B-I-C-S- school board holds their regular monthly meeting Monday evening at 7. Other meetings to get on your planner for next week are the Peaine Township Planning Commission meeting at 7 on Tuesday at the township hall and the Library Board Meeting on Thursday at 7 at the library.
If you are interested in bidding on the Cisco, those bids are due Wednesday at 5. And, Pickle ball is back next week at the BIC Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30. Remember, the 1st Annual BIC Center Picklball Tournament is coming up on June 2nd.

Summer hours are coming to your BIC Center on May 20th. Opening times will be 9 to 9 Monday through Saturday, 9 to 5 on Sundays. And with that comes the need for additional staffing at the BIC Center. Pay is competitive for these part time positions.
