First some news…
A missing kayaker’s body was recovered early Saturday from Lake Michigan’s Green Bay after a search involving multiple agencies. The kayaker, who launched from Veterans Memorial Park Friday, in Menominee, was reported overdue and an investigation is underway. Foul play is not suspected at this time. The identity of the deceased has not been released. Source: mlive.com
Prime Michigan land is hitting the auction block this summer — including forested parcels, riverfront, lakefront, Great Lakes frontage, and even Beaver Island lots.
The Department of Natural Resources is auctioning 101 surplus properties across 28 counties, including right here in Charlevoix County. The online auction runs August 4th through the 28th.
Full maps, legal descriptions, and starting bids are posted on the DNR website. Pre-register to bid at tax-sale.info if you’re looking for shoreline or wooded land in Northern Michigan.
Tickets for summer events at the BIC Center and Baroque on Beaver are on sale. You’ll find them at tickets dot bic center dot org, where you’ll also find links to tickets for all other summer events on the Island including the Music Festival and the Feile.
Beaver Island Elks Lodge #2886 and AMVET Post #46 invite all Elks and the public to a special celebration honoring our National Flag and remembering our service men and women who lost their lives in the Iranian Conflict.

TRAFFIC: No delays inbound or outbound to the airports. The Island Beltway is running smoothly save for occasional culvert digging delays on East Side Drive. There are no bridge delays. But, hey, let’s be careful out there as traffic increases with seasonal residents returning every day and the kids and all out enjoying the warmer weather.
