TRAFFIC: None. But, let’s be careful out there. |

ON THIS DAY Czar Alexander II, the ruler of Russia since 1855, is killed in the streets of St. Petersburg by a bomb thrown by a member of the revolutionary “People’s Will” group. The People’s Will, organized in 1879, employed terrorism and assassination in their attempt to overthrow Russia’s czarist autocracy. They murdered officials and made several attempts on the czar’s life before finally assassinating him on March 13, 1881. |

WORD OF THE DAY: Our Merriam Webster word of the day is Apotheosis – Apotheosis means “the perfect form or example of something” or “the highest or best part of something.” It can also mean “elevation to divine status; deification.” // Some consider (however ironically) french fries to be the apotheosis of U.S. cuisine.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Monday… |

Here’s a thought for the day from Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky who wrote, “If there is no God, everything is permitted.” On a lighter note I used to run a dating service for chickens. But I was struggling to make hens meet.
