Proceeds support programming for WVBI and the BIC Center.

KB: ON THIS DATE in 1924, Macy’s puts on its first Thanksgiving Day Parade

Macy’s kicks off what will be a beloved annual tradition. The parade contains floats, employees dressed as clowns, cowboys, and animals from the Central Park Zoo. The parade isn’t to celebrate Thanksgiving as much as to put Christmas – and shopping for presents – in the minds of spectators lining the streets.

And, related to the parade, did you know that Macy’s is the world’s second largest consumer of helium. The United States Government is the first.
WORD OF THE DAY: yahoo; noun; (YAH-hoo); capitalized Yahoo : a member of a race of brutes in Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels who have the form and all the vices of humans; a boorish, crass, or stupid person
We know exactly how old yahoo is because its debut in print also marked its entrance into the English language as a whole. Yahoo began life as a made-up word invented by Jonathan Swift in his book Gulliver’s Travels, which was published in 1726.
KB: Now, birthdays: Wes DeJonge is actually celebrating today. I had him omn the list yesterday when I should have had Eula Thomas. So happy birthday to Wes again and belated greetings to Eula. If we missed you on our list, Happy Birthday to you from all of us at WVBI and your Beaver Island Community Center.
KB: Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Tuesday…

Here’s a thought for the day from Lou Holtz: Winners and losers aren’t born, they are the products of how they think”

On a lighter note…
Why don’t crabs donate on Giving Tuesday?
Because they’re shellfish.
