From studios in the BIC Center on America’s Emerald Isle, this is the WVBI Community Calendar for Thursday, June 20th, 2019.
First some news… Last night’s meeting at St James Township Hall concerning the the J.A .Wollham Foundation’s plan to purchase the Beaver Island Marina and gift it to St. James Township was well attended and well presented. An excellent overview of the proposal was given by Kitty McNamara with the help of all the other officials from St. James Township. The township officials are continuing to work with all parties involved. You can read the plan on the township website at

This weekend, Lego club is at the Library. That’s at 1 on Saturday.
And we have movies here at the BIC Center. At 4 Wonder Park PG | 1h 25min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy Wonder Park tells the story of an amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive.
on Saturday at 7 US R | 1h 56min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller A family’s serene beach vacation turns to chaos when their doppelgängers appear and begin to terrorize them.
Concession stand will be open with Nathan’s hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, sweets, soda and other drinks.

Looking ahead, some big events coming up. Beaver Island Bike Festival is this weekend—the 21st to the 23rd. It’s looking like Daddy Franks will be open soon, too. We’ll keep you posted.
Here’s something to get on your calendar. All sorts of fun exercise opportunities coming up here at the BIC Center for the summer season. There’ll be something every day. Yoga on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays, Tai Chi and Thursdays kick boxing moves for exercise right here at the BIC Center. And, Saturdays, Self Defense exercise classes. Everything starts the week of the 24th with all classes starting at 9:30 in the McDonough’s Market Theater.

The film, a breakthrough for director Spielberg, then 27 years old, spawned several sequels.
