NAME OF DAY: The BIC Center Name of the Day is Rick. If that’s your name, head on down to the BIC Center to pick out a free drink of your choice courtesy of your friends at the BIC Center and W-V-B-I …

BIRTHDAYS Kevin Bousquet happy birthday to Kevin, but if we missed you on the list, Happy Birthday to you from all of us at W-V-B-I and your Beaver Island Community Center.
TRAFFIC: No delays, but let’s be careful out there.
On this day in 1493, explorer Christopher Columbus, sailing near what is now the Dominican Republic, records in his ship’s journal that, on the previous day, he saw three “mermaids”—in reality manatees—and describes them as “not half as beautiful as they are painted.” Six months earlier, Columbus (1451-1506) set off from Spain across the Atlantic Ocean with the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria, hoping to find a western trade route to Asia. Instead, his voyage, the first of four he would make, led him to the Americas, or “New World.”
Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day
Beleagur To beleaguer a person, business, etc. is to cause them constant or repeated trouble. Beleaguer is also sometimes used as a synonym of besiege.
// The coach, beleaguered by the media and fans for his poor decision-making during games, has been fired.

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Thursday…
Here’s a thought for the day from
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” In other words, teach your children well, as sung by Crosby, Stills Nash and Young.
On a lighter note…
I cut my finger slicing cheese but I may have a grater problem
That’s the W-V-B-I Community Calendar for this Beaver Island Thursday, January 9th, 2025. I’m Greg Doig reporting from W-V-B-I’s Langford Family Studios wishing you a great day and asking you: why not go ahead and make it the best day ever? And thanks for listening.
