At the Natural Resource Commission meeting this Thursday which followed an internal DNR review, a special land use order was granted to allow for designated campsites on state held lands.
“Resource Deputy Bill O’Neill — on behalf of Director Keith Creagh — approved:
Designated campsites on Beaver Island State Wildlife Area Research Area, which establishes campsites along a water trail being developed on Beaver Island.”
Formal agreements and a water trail plan for Beaver Island are being developed with the assistance of the Land Information Access Association. This plan was funded through a grant from Coastal Zone Management/OGL and Charlevoix County Recreation millage and is due to be completed in December. Stay tuned for more updates.

And, we can make it easy for your events to show up in a nice calendar on your website, too, so you only have to post them once.
