Community Calendar for November 2, 2017

Today is Thursday November 2nd, 2017.
I’m Greg Doig with today’s WVBI Community Calendar.

Press Release – In late October, MDARD staff confirmed that one of the traps had captured a lone female EAB. MDARD’s Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division has offered suggestions and insights about the finding along with their agency’s continued support. It has not been determined if the EAB was an isolated hitchhiker from the mainland or the first sign of a larger problem. It is hoped that EAB traps and lures will be available from the USDA to again be placed in strategic locations on the island in early summer 2018. At present, the firewood quarantine to the island will remain in place. Next year’s trapping data will give islanders and the MDARD further information to assist in managing the forests of Beaver Island.

This week (Oct. 30 Nov. 4), come into the library and write a post-it note about someone (or yourself) who made a difference in our community (during the 2017 year). Place it on the display. Let’s fill it up.
Can’t make it in? Call us at 448-2701 and tell us the details. We’ll fill it in for you.
Let’s pat some folks on the back who try to make a difference in someone’s life here on the island.

Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.

To Lucas and all our listeners, hope and thinking positive thoughts are some pretty good medicine.

On a lighter note, do you know what the last thought of a poisonous snake usually is? Darn it, I just bit my tongue!!!

That’s the WVBI Community Calendar for Thursday November 2nd, 2017.
