From studios in the BIC Center on America’s Emerald Isle, this is the WVBI Community Calendar for Monday, June 17th, 2019.
First some news…
It was announced that Linda McDonough is a semi-finalist for the 2019 AQS Quilt Week coming up in Grand Rapids on August 21st – 24th Quilts were selected from 42 states and 13 countries.
Now, here’s what’s happening on your island …

Today: 1 p.m. The St. James Township Finance Committee meets on the third Monday of each month at the Governmental Center on Kings Highway. Check the St. James Township website for details.

7 p.m. Peaine Township Hall The Beaver Island Archipelago Trails Association is having a general membership meeting. All island residents and others with an interest in trails in the archipelago are welcome to attend. We will be discussing the formation of an island hiking club and organization of teams for trail maintenance.

Tuesday: 10 a.m. Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program BICC

5 p.m. The Peaine and St. James Township Beaver Island Telecommunications Advisory Committee holds its meetings on the third Tuesday of the month.

6:30 p.m. Movie Captain Marvel at the BICC

7 p..m. Beaver Island Marina Update at St. James Township Hall
On Wednesday, June 19th, there’s a special St. James meeting about what’s going on with the J.A .Wollham Foundation’s plan to purchase the Beaver Island Marina and gift it to St. James Township. Learn about the proposed timeline and how the proposal impacts township goals, taxes and economics of the island.

Thursday:
First Farmers Market of the Season 9 a.m. Paradise Bay Coffee Shop – Shop opens at 0830
Games Galore 1 p.m. BICC
7 p.m. Library Board meeting at the Library

Friday:
10 a.m. BICC Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
Bike the Beaver Begins

7 p.m. Wildlife Club Meeting at Peaine Township Hall

This weekend, Lego club is at the Library. That’s at 1 on Saturday.
And we have movies here at the BIC Center. At 4 Wonder Park PG | 1h 25min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy Wonder Park tells the story of an amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive.
on Saturday At 7 US R | 1h 56min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller A family’s serene beach vacation turns to chaos when their doppelgängers appear and begin to terrorize them.

Concession stand will be open with Nathan’s hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, sweets, soda and other drinks.

Sunday, worship services at Holy Cross, the Christian Church and the Lighthouse Fellowship. Check the calendar for details.

Looking ahead, some big events coming up. Beaver Island Bike Festival is this weekend—the 21st to the 23rd. It’s looking like Daddy Franks will be open soon, too. We’ll keep you posted.

Here’s something to get on your calendar. All sorts of fun exercise opportunities coming up here at the BIC Center for the summer season. There’ll be something every day. Yoga on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays, Tai Chi and Thursdays kick boxing moves for exercise right here at the BIC Center. And, Saturdays, Self Defense exercise classes. Everything starts the week of the 24th with all classes starting at9:30 in the McDonough’s Market Theater.
