WVBI’s Kevin Boyle will talk with David Reimer (RYHMER) about the concert this afternoon after the news at five on Beaver Island Perspectives, but we also caught up with David to find out a little bit about the music the students will play.

Yesterday we talked about research in New York to deal with algae blooms on the great lakes that we sometimes see along our shores in the summer. Canada and the province of Ontario recently released their plan to combat toxic algae blooms in Lake Erie. Great Lakes Today’s Elizabeth Miller has details on the plan, and when we’ll see a U-S version.

Great Lakes Today is a collaboration of WBFO Buffalo, ideastream Cleveland, and WXXI Rochester.
One other note on the Great Lakes for you today. The University of Michigan has recently completed a draft report on changes in Great Lakes water levels and is accepting comments on it. The report identifies potential policies and actions to help shoreline managers and property owners plan for and adapt to variable lake levels. It involved collaborative efforts among four U-S and Canadian research teams and communities along the Lake Michigan-Huron shoreline. We’ll have a link to the draft report in our news section []. Comments on the report can be submitted through midnight on Saturday. A link to do that is also in our news section [].

At our website, we’ve tried to include everything, but if we’ve missed your event you can easily add it yourself by using the handy “Post Your Event” button in the upper right of the calendar or by sending an email with the details to<>. And, we can make it easy for your events to show up in a nice calendar on your website, too, so you only have to post them once. Your website can show only your events or those plus other categories from the calendar that you choose.

To help coordinate the events we’ve taken the major events for Summer 2018 and compiled them into a nifty little Celebrate Summer 2018 online calendar. Just point your browser at to get the lowdown on everything planned so far for next summer. Then check back from time to time as more events will be added as dates are firmed up.

Still no delays to report on Beaver Island.

Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.

To Lucas, Sophia and all our listeners, encouraging others can bring them hope, do so when you see someone who needs some.
On a lighter note, never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly!!!
