WORD OF THE DAY: vim (vim) which means lively or energetic spirit; enthusiasm; vitality. Vim began as an American colloquialism but became standard on both sides of the Atlantic within a generation. It is the accusative singular of the irregular Latin noun vīs (stem vīr-) “power, force.” Latin vīs is related to the Latin noun vir “man (i.e., a male person), husband.” The same Proto-Indo-European root wir-, wīr- in Latin vir appears in English wergild and werewolf. Vim entered English in the mid-19th century.

… Still no delays to report on Beaver Island.

Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.

To Lucas and all our listeners, Steve Jobs once said the journey is the reward. To which I’ll add, so enjoy it in the moment and try not to get ahead of yourself.

On a lighter note, it’s tough sleeping with a blanket when the weather warms, but it’s the only way to keep the monsters away!!!

That’s the WVBI Community Calendar for Monday June 5th, 2017. I’m Greg Doig at WVBI‚ the Voice of Beaver Island. Have a great day, and thank you for listening!
