If you are looking for information on all island events, find it on the new WVBI Community Calendar. Just head on over to the WVBI website and click on Calendar on the top menu.
We’ve tried to include everything, but if we’ve missed your event you can easily add it yourself by using the handy “Post Your Event” button in the upper right of the calendar or by sending an email with the details to¬†calendar@wvbi.net. And, we can make it easy for your events to show up in a nice calendar on your website, too, so you only have to post them once. Your website can show only your events or those plus other categories from the calendar that you choose.

Did you know that the life span of an ostrich is 40 to 45 years?
Word of the day: draconian (drey-KOH-nee-uh n, druh-) which means rigorous; unusually severe or cruel. Draconian refers to Draco, the Athenian lawgiver who according to ancient tradition had the laws of Athens written down and introduced new laws, perhaps in 621/620 b.c.e. Draco’s criminal laws were severe; most crimes were punished by death. Asked why the punishments were so extreme, Draco answered that small crimes deserved the death penalty and that he could think of no harsher penalty for major crimes. The Athenian statesman Solon repealed all of Draco’s laws except those on homicide, possibly in 594/3 b.c.e. The word entered English in the 18th century.

On a lighter note, Why did Mozart kill all his chickens?
Because when he asked them who the best composer was, they all said bach, bach, bach !!!!
