Michigan commissioned the 66-foot RV Steelhead, a new fisheries research vessel based in Charlevoix. It features modern sampling equipment, improved stability and maneuverability, solar charging, and safer work areas. The vessel will monitor Lake Michigan fish
populations and invasive species to inform state fisheries management.

Our Merriam Webster Word of the Day is the adjective Heterodox –
Like both unorthodox and unconventional, heterodox describes something, such an idea or belief, that is contrary to or different from an acknowledged standard, a traditional form, or an established religion. Heterodox can also describe a person or group that
holds unorthodox opinions or doctrines.
// The two new faculty members’ heterodox approach to teaching science initially met with some resistance

Now, to wrap up for this Beaver Island Friday…
|
|
Here’s a thought for the day from Rod Serling, “We’re developing a new citizenry. One that will be very selective about cereals and automobiles, but won’t be able to think.”

On a lighter note… What’s worse than biting into an apple and finding a worm? Biting into an apple and finding
half a worm.
