About the Show
The Underground features music that is outside of the mainstream with a focus on blues, funk and rock.
The recipe for each edition of The Underground includes:
- 1 cup of music history to explore significant events such as birthdays, record releases and interesting historical events in the music world.
- 1 cup of new music releases that are curated weekly by your host Leila Freijy.
- Add healthy doses of blues, funk and rock.
- Sprinkle in some soul, R&B, Motown, ska, reggae and hip hop.
The result is a unique and delicious blend of toe-tapping, hip-shaking music that will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
The Underground also features a “Green Room” segment each week in which Leila features the music of a band with a Michigan connection.
