First, some news…
Two weeks after an F-16 crashed near Traverse City, at least one resident remains displaced. Officials are testing soil and groundwater for contamination, removing remaining aircraft debris, and planning to excavate affected soil. Test results are expected
next week.
Yesterday, a bomb threat prompted Kingsley schools to evacuate students, but police found no evidence of danger. Everyone was sent home safely, and schools will reopen Thursday, with officers patrolling as a precaution.
On October 13, weather permitting, a crew will rebuild and reinforce the nest used by bald eagles Harry and Harriet near Traverse City. The privately operated livestream will continue during the work, which has U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approval.
