Lots of reporting yesterday across the internet about a dark-web shop briefly offered high-resolution scans of more than 153 million U.S. and Canadian driver’s licenses—front, back, even infrared and ultraviolet copies. Journalist Brian Krebs found his own license used as a free sample. Timestamps matched rental-car and dispensary scans. Reporting points to an ID-verification firm in New Orleans. The FBI’s New Orleans office opened an inquiry. The shop vanished after the story broke. If a clerk scanned your license in the last year, treat that image as exposed. Some steps you can take are to Freeze credit reports and watch your accounts.
