WVBI COVID-19 Update for March 1, 2022

The State’s COVID-19 data released yesterday continues to show downward trends across the board—some dramatic. There were an average of 620 new cases a day over the two days covered by the report—less than half the rate in the last report– and nine new deaths a day, off by about two thirds. The seven-day running averages continue to drop…now at 1,050 for new cases and 35 for deaths including deaths reclassified from prior dates. Charlevoix had four new cases over the three days and no new deaths. In our region there were 26 new cases and one death, which was in Grand Traverse. Hospital occupancy and utilization trends continue to look good—with rates for both regular and I-C-U beds at normal levels. COVID-19 numbers are still elevated from last fall but way from their peaks. No change in our local hospitals.

Nothing new from the health center. No new tests. None pending. No current cases tested positive at the health center or school on the island.
