Aurora Visibility: The aurora borealis was visible on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, with chances to witness the phenomenon near Harbor Springs and Wilderness State Park.

Solar Activity: The “extreme” (G5) storm, the first since 2003, was caused by sunspot clusters on the sun, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center.

NAME OF DAY: Today’s BIC Center name of the day is Walter

BIRTHDAYS: Darrell Butler Jr., Ashley Runberg, Eileen Woolford-Ballard, and if we missed on the list, Happy Birthday to you too from all of us at W-V-B-I and your Beaver Island Community Center.

TRAFFIC: No delays inbound or outbound to the airports. Island beltway is running smoothly. No bridge delays. But, let’s be careful out there.

On this day  On May 15, 1941, the jet-propelled Gloster-Whittle E 28/39 aircraft flies successfully over Cranwell, England, in the first test of an Allied aircraft using jet propulsion. The aircraft’s turbojet engine, which produced a powerful thrust of hot air, was devised by Frank Whittle, an English aviation engineer and pilot generally regarded as the father of the jet engine.

The word of the day Caveat

A caveat is an explanation or warning that should be remembered when you are doing or thinking about something. In legal contexts, caveat refers to a notice to a court or judicial officer to suspend a proceeding until the opposition can be heard.

// All investment advice should come with a caveat: the stock market is impossible to predict with absolute accuracy.
