‘Til Beth Do Us Part @ Beaver Island Community Center
Apr 27 @ 8:00 pm

The Beaver Island Community Players return to the stage this spring with a hilarious romp through the mysteries of marriage. Suzannah Hayden needs more help on the home front than she’s getting from her husband, Gibby. Enter Beth Bailey, Suzannah’s newly-hired assistant, Beth explodes into the Hayden household and whips it into a well-run machine. This couldn’t have happened at a better time for Suzannah, since her boss, Celia Carmichael, the C.E.O. of Carmichael’s Chocolates, is flying in for an important make-or-break business dinner. Suzannah gives Beth carte blanche to change anything in the household that “will make it run more efficiently.” And the change Beth makes is that Gibby must go! When he realizes it’s Suzannah’s career Beth is really after, a newly-determined Gibby sets out to save his marriage.

Join your favorite island actors and actresses for a great evening of fun at the BIC Center.

BICS 5th & 6th Grade Play @ Beaver Island Community Center
May 10 @ 7:00 pm

We don’t yet know the title of this year’s BICS 5th & 6th Grade play (it is a closely guarded secret), but we do know that you won’t want to miss this event.  Every year our BICS students amaze the island with their thespian skills, and this year will be no exception.  Plus, all proceeds go towards raising money for their class trip to Camp Hay Yo Wenta.

CMU Summer Theater 2019 @ Beaver Island Community Center
Jul 5 – Jul 6 all-day

Performances by Central Michigan University’s traveling summer theater program have become an island favorite and summer tradition.  They are back for 2019.  There’ll be two great shows this summer.  On July 5th Neil Simon’s California Suite comes to the McDonough’s Market Theater followed on the 6th by the Fox on the Fairway by Ken Ludwig.  If history is a predictor, these shows will be sellouts, so book your seats early to avoid disappointment.

Neil Simon’s California Suite @ Beaver Island Community Center
Jul 5 @ 7:00 pm

For their first performance, CMU’s University Theater Summer Program brings you Neil Simon’s California Suite – a quartet of four brilliantly comic vignettes about different visitors to Suite 203-204 of The Beverly Hills Hotel. The Visitor from New York introduces us to an urban workaholic who cannot abide the leisurely life-style her ex-husband has adopted in an effort to lure his daughter to the West Coast. The Visitor from Philadelphia is a middle-aged businessman who has awakened on his first morning in California to find a naked prostitute unconscious in his bed. The Visitors from London include an aging British actress who may win an Oscar, but who is in imminent danger of losing her husband. While The Visitors from Chicago are two couples who find their friendships disintegrating with each hour they vacation together.

Ken Ludwig’s A Fox on the Fairway @ Beaver Island Community Center
Jul 6 @ 7:30 pm

CMU Summer Theater Program’s second show for the summer is a tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s.  A Fox On the Fairway takes audiences on a hilarious romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it’s a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers’ classics.
