At our website, we’ve tried to include everything, but if we’ve missed your event you can easily add it yourself by using the handy “Post Your Event” button in the upper right of the calendar or by sending an email with the details to calendar@wvbi.net<mailto:calendar@wvbi.net>. And, we can make it easy for your events to show up in a nice calendar on your website, too, so you only have to post them once. Your website can show only your events or those plus other categories from the calendar that you choose.

Remember that the Pantry can always donations. For your convenience, there are collection baskets at the Beaver Island Christian Church, Beaver Island Community Center, Beaver Island Rural Health Center, Fresh Air, Holy Cross Church and Island Airways.

ON THIS DATE of November 29, 1976 – Jerry Lee Lewis shot his bass player, Norman “Butch” Owens, twice in the chest while trying to hit a soda bottle. Lewis was charged with shooting a firearm within the city limits.
DID YOU KNOW THAT In around 1908, Thomas Sullivan, a New York tea merchant, started to send samples of tea to his customers in small silken bags. Some assumed that these were supposed to be used in the same way as the metal infusers, by putting the entire bag into the pot, rather than emptying out the contents. It was thus by accident that the tea bag was born!
WORD OF THE DAY sagittate (SAJ-i-teyt) which means shaped like an arrowhead. Sagittate derives from New Latin sagittātus “shaped like an arrowhead” and is restricted entirely to the biological sciences (botany and entomology).

Traffic
Donegal Bay Road work continues, watch for detours and workers… Still no delays to report on Beaver Island.

Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.

To Lucas and all our listeners, to quote my friend Ben again (Benjamin Franklin)
A good conscience is a continual Christmas.

On a lighter note, do you know what’s confusing about Hanukkah or Chanukah? Figuring out how to spell it!!!

That’s the WVBI Community Calendar for Wednesday November 29th, 2017.

I’m Greg Doig at WVBI‚ the Voice of Beaver Island. Make today the best day ever, and thank you for listening!
