If you’ve made a donation in the last year, you’ll receive an invitation by mail. If you’ve made a donation, but don’t receive an invitation please call the Community Center. Public input on a water trail planning effort for Beaver Island will be gathered at an open house on Monday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at the Beaver Island Community Center.
The June 19 open house will include an introduction to the water-trail planning process and information on universal accessibility for paddlers of all ages and abilities. Attendees will be asked to help identify potential access sites and identify community assets that could be featured as part of the water trail system.

The project is being led by the Land Information Access Association (LIAA), a nonprofit community development organization based in Traverse City. LIAA has extensive experience helping communities leverage their recreational assets for economic development, and recently published a state guidebook on water trails, the Michigan Water Trails Manual, available to download for free at www.michiganwatertrails.org/manual. For more about LIAA visit www.liaa.org.
PG- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources invites public input on a proposal to open thousands of miles of state forest roads to off-road vehicles in the northern Lower Peninsula. The expanded access takes effect January 2018, as required by Public Act 288 of 2016.

Plans for July 4th Carnival
Just had a productive meeting with Diane McDonough about the 4th of July Carnival. Here is where it stands. If we can secure enough volunteers in the next week, we will proceed. If we cannot, we may need to forego the carnival this year. Please spread the word to those who may be interested. We hate to disappoint but it takes many, many volunteers to make this happen! We know this is a busy time for everyone…

Traffic

… Still no delays to report on Beaver Island.

Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.

To Lucas and all our listeners, going beyond what you already know and learning more, helps you to become what you are fully capable of doing.

On a lighter note, I’d like to thank everyone who has let me know it’s Friday. Thoughts like this are what keep me on Facebook!!!

That’s the WVBI Community Calendar for Friday June 16th, 2017.

I’m Greg Doig at WVBI‚ the Voice of Beaver Island. Have a great day, and thank you for listening!
