At our website, we’ve tried to include everything, but if we’ve missed your event you can easily add it yourself by using the handy “Post Your Event” button in the upper right of the calendar or by sending an email with the details to email@example.com. And, we can make it easy for your events to show up in a nice calendar on your website, too, so you only have to post them once. Your website can show only your events or those plus other categories from the calendar that you choose.
Next time you are shopping at McDonough’s Market, buy an extra can (or two or three!) of food and put it in the Food Pantry collection box near the entrance. The Food Pantry helps Islanders in need and we can always use items like canned fruit and vegetables, soups, tuna, canned chicken, canned beans. Boxed mac and cheese, boxed potatoes, ramen and canned spaghetti and ravioli are also great.
Thanks to McDonough’s Market for all their help. And thank you!

Word of the Day: confabulate (kuh n-fab-yuh-leyt); verb meaning to converse informally or chat. Today’s weather seemed as if the writer is confavulating with a friend.
On this Day:
On this day in 1991, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev is placed under house arrest during a coup by high-ranking members of his own government, military and police forces.
… Still no delays to report on Beaver Island.
Hey, let’s be careful out there. Especially in the school zone.
To Lucas and all our listeners, Robert Louis Stevenson once wrote, “Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down.” So go ahead today and live your life this way today.
On a lighter note, I was going to tell you a fart joke today, but they all stink!!!
That’s the WVBI Community Calendar for Friday August 18th, 2017.
I’m Greg Doig at WVBI‚ the Voice of Beaver Island. Have a great day, and thank you for listening!
